What is Avalanche C-Chain?
Avalanche is a blockchain platform with several chains. This wallet focuses on C-Chain, the EVM-compatible Avalanche chain used for AVAX transfers, smart contracts and ERC-20 compatible tokens.
AVAX on C-Chain
AVAX is the native asset used to pay network fees on Avalanche C-Chain. Sending AVAX on C-Chain uses an EVM transaction, while token transfers call a token smart contract.
C-Chain and EVM compatibility
C-Chain implements the Ethereum Virtual Machine environment, which is why familiar Ethereum-style addresses beginning with 0x, ERC-20 token contracts and gas concepts are used. A C-Chain wallet address can therefore hold AVAX and compatible tokens deployed on Avalanche C-Chain.
What this wallet supports
- Create a new recovery phrase and C-Chain address.
- Open a wallet with a recovery phrase or private key.
- Send and receive native AVAX.
- Detect, add and send ERC-20 compatible tokens.
- View C-Chain transaction activity through an indexer.
- Use multiple RPC endpoints with automatic failover.
Network fees
Every C-Chain transaction consumes gas. AVAX is required to pay that fee, including when you send an ERC-20 token. The wallet can estimate the network fee automatically, while a custom mode exposes gas price and gas limit settings.
