Avalanche Web Wallet help
This guide explains the main wallet functions and the most common issues when using AVAX and ERC-20 tokens on Avalanche C-Chain.
How do I create a wallet?
Choose New wallet and create a new recovery phrase. Record the phrase securely before funding the address. The same phrase can derive the wallet again later.
How do I open an existing wallet?
Use Seed phrase for a compatible recovery phrase or Private key for an EVM private key. The wallet derives the corresponding C-Chain address locally in the browser.
How do I send AVAX?
Select AVAX, enter the recipient C-Chain address and amount, review the estimated fee and confirm the transaction. The MAX function reserves the current estimated network fee when calculating the sendable amount.
How do token transfers work?
Detected ERC-20 compatible assets appear in the token list. You can also add a known token contract manually. Token transfers still require a small AVAX balance because gas is paid with AVAX.
What are gas price and gas limit?
Gas price is the price paid per unit of gas. Gas limit is the maximum amount of gas the transaction is allowed to consume. A simple AVAX transfer normally needs less gas than a token contract interaction.
Why can history or token discovery be unavailable?
Core balance reads and transaction broadcasting use Avalanche RPC endpoints. Full address history and automatic token discovery rely on an indexing service because standard C-Chain RPC does not provide a complete address activity list by itself. If the indexer is temporarily unavailable, basic AVAX operations can still work.
What happens if an RPC node fails?
The wallet checks multiple Avalanche RPC endpoints and can switch to another responsive endpoint. A signed raw transaction can be broadcast through a backup RPC without generating a different transaction.
Why does the wallet stay open after restart?
The current wallet is persisted in browser storage for this website so it can reopen after refresh or browser restart. Choose Close wallet to clear that stored wallet session.
